Went to Trainers then 10 minute warmup, 4x800 at thresholds and then 30 minute cross train. Definitely helped going to the trainers only really noticed anything after the thresholds but it was not bad at all. Definitely going to keep an eye on it but I see no reason for it to affect anything. Been getting really good sleep the last couple days too I’ll continue that over the next three nights.

Going to rest after ending practice early yesterday. Visited Cubbin, Melkus and Devin at University of Wisconsin Madison. Really cool to see them again as well as get a taste of “the college experience”. Really glad to have had this experience this has definitely set a bar for what I want to see while I’m in college. Speaking of which, finalized and submitted 4 out of 6 college applications and I’m planning to complete the last two by the end of this week. I also have my Eagle Board of Review tonight which should be two major weights off my back. Very excited.

A lot to think about after this race, there are a few problems I will talk about that I know I can take care of, will explain later. Preparation for the race was not the usual. I’ve been spending a lot of time being very productive and working on all of my applications, but it has come at the cost of sleep every night. I’ve been aware and not going to bed at unreasonable times, but sleep over the last couple days was less than past weeks. However, the entire point of this is to have no applications remaining for the state series, and as long as I remain as productive as I have been in the last few days, my applications will be taken care of by then, giving me more than enough time to catch up on sleep. This is not an issue I am worried about nor is it an excuse for anything. I will not be a victim. As for the race, start was near perfect, finding Tarasi and Cooper quickly and hanging with them until the first mile marker. Next mile was rough, but by the end I was right with Tarasi. The second go on the hill took a lot more energy than I was ready for, a mistake on my end. Fought just a little behind Tarasi into the end but it was no beautiful finish. I recognize that my greatest weakness was the second go around the hill. I draw strength knowing that we have home field advantage for Sectionals and Regionals and that I am well prepared for KLM. I am looking forward to it. Plan for the next week is lock in for applications and do not, under any circumstances, allow that to drag me down in the state series. The work is not over and there is a lot left to do. Glad to see the team placed 3rd, I think that’s the highest placement in a non dual meet team wise that I’ve contributed to. Ready to continue to contribute.
