Ran at PT. He said I can run half mile to mile for the next week or two. Went camping afterwards, was chilly but fun

Meeting with Dr Patel today, he said my new injury is much more symptomatic of shin splints, than another reaction/fracture which is very relieving. I’m starting PT on Friday. NXR was a blast, it was nice to spend time with the team like that. Track gonna be hype

Really did not feel like getting on the bike, but, as always, I’m happy I did. 10 minute warm, (8 hard, 2 easy)x3, 10 minute cooldown. I’ve become a much better biker over this season, we’ll see how much that transfers to running soon. Heating and massage gun afterwards.

We can live in an alternative world, a world where we qualified for state, where we considered sectionals a heroic success. We can try to live in this world. We can fight for it, do everything in our power to achieve it, but it is never guaranteed. We can imagine this world so vividly that it’s practically real. We can savor those minutes where we were full of hesitant glory. We could just subtract one from eight, it would be so easy. But that world was no longer ours to live in, and it stings to be here, on the other side of success. But if we only did it for victory, where would that ever stop? Once you qualify, you want to win, once you win state, you want to qualify for nationals, and this vicious style repeats until you’re an Olympian, competing ever-still. You can never completely win. So let’s recognize our level of success, and be grateful for it. And let’s recognize that what’s more important than achievement is the commitment (and love) of the process, the team, the everyday grind. For without that, there is truly no good in doing this at all. We still have NXR, we still have track, and most of you still have more seasons of cross. It’s supposed to sting, and it’s okay to feel that burn, but at least recognize that we will have more opportunities, more practices together, and more goals to realize. And personally, I am so excited to see what the team becomes. Especially you Sophomores, I am so looking forward to seeing how you guys will grow. Coming back and checking in when your seniors is gonna be so hype. Onwards, boys. Let’s keep running.

A spooky rest (my one day this week). Photo featuring a selfie taken by Mr Rogers (where’s Matthew tho? 🤨🤨)

Running just got serious again. 1 mile warm & cooldown, and a hard 4x800. I didn’t know where I was at physically, and my muscle memory for pacing these kind of workouts has atrophied. So, I ran inconsistently: (if i recall correctly ) 2:30, 2:40, 2:50, 3:10. Towards the end I started seeing spots, throbbing headache, etc. On a happy note, my bones felt fine. I was feeling athlete pain, not injury pain. W. Doing 5-6 miles on Friday.

Intense bike today, after heating, learning & doing new stretches and strengthenings. I did 20 minute (probably?) warmup, then (4 hard, 1 easy)x6 times. Hit 188 HR high score. Only got like a 3 minute cooldown which is quite unfortunate but I iced afterwards.

Chill cross train, watch data not syncing (?) But I think my HR was around 143 average.

Awesome bike workout straight after my run. 10 minute warmup, 4 minute hard, 1 easy)x6 times, getting faster with each. 10 minute cooldown. Average HR 156.

A (relatively) speedy 2 mile. Feeling the momentum of Returning to Run, determined to preform at the time trial.
