Stretched and strengthened at the fitness center. Then, bicked at home. Felt better than last bike. Could get a good HR too, which is just nice (makes the whole thing feel more productive). Finished Great Gatsby 🔥🔥

First outdoor run ‼️ felt liberating. Also, Polar HR strap actually gives pace realtime (and seemly more accurate than watch) so that’s sick. (3 run, 1 walk)x3 repeats. Onto the next level tomorrow ✊🏼

Decided to take a rest day because of Tuesday’s bike ride.

Slower cross train today, started out with normal resistance but had to scale back. When I lowered the resistance, there was no problem. Huge downside though was that my avg HR was only 123.

Legendary cross train. Got my HR to 191 (all time X-train high). I did the workout with Rogers: 15 warmup, 10 hard, 5 easy, (5 hard, 5 easy)x3, 10 cooldown. I played a game where for each rep my max HR is my score, and I’m trying to top my high score. Today, I topped it every time (176, 188, 190,191).

(Rest day, workout on Sunday) A lovely day with Cubbin, Rogers, Devin, Melkus, Buckley at UW Madison. It felt like a weekend at College. On foot, we explored the campus and town of Madison. Walking distance includes Sunday morning. Reflection, mostly for myself: The day didn’t feel gregariously social, like a part of me suspected. It was moreso among those who were or would quickly become friends (their roommates and neighbors). As a result, the day felt warm and comforting. Exploring a place with familiar faces. Madison, as a campus and location, is wonderful as expected. Saxophonists playing the street. The liveliness of the city without the honking cars. It’s a city built around a Campus, as opposed to a campus scattered throughout a City. I feel significantly closer to everyone I hung out with, especially Cubbin. Hope he either makes the Rowing team or learns Piano 🙌

My discipline and drive are at the highest they’ve been this season. I’m filled with an eagerness to compete and a newfound gratitude for running. Tonight was a hard cross train. 10 minute stretch and strength, 20 minute warmup, then 3x8 minute at 75% effort (HR 165-171) with 2 minute rest. Then, 15 minute cooldown. 5 minute stretch. Graph is HR/resistance during the hard part of the workout. Observing the spikes during the high effort, and how it gradually goes up.

Ran for the first time in months ‼️‼️ 1 minute run, 1 minute walk for 15 minutes felt euphoric tbh. On my Herculean Recovery arc.

Biked with Roger’s at five seasons. I taught him that the airpods have a pause button, pretty proud of myself. Also went harder than usual according to HR, but it felt pretty light. 10 pre-stretch & strength, 10 minute core and stretch post workout.

10 minute stretch, then bike, then 5 minute stretch not sure how long I worked out for exactly — started my HR monitor after I had already done some minutes, the machine also restarted in the middle of the workout. I’m not gonna round up my duration today (even though I was +5-20 minutes from what I’m putting) I wanna work for each minute, and estimating then would make em less personally meaningful.

After I watch you guys race, I’m sure to have a productive, determined cross train. I’ve noticed this throughout the season, and I noticed it today. Thanks for the energy. Third hard(ish, HR in low 150s) workout since surgery. 10 minute stretch and strengthening. Bike: 15 minute warmup, 4x5 minute fast with 1 minute slow (+ an extra 3 minute fast at the end), 13 minute cooldown. Same 5min random core routine: Leg Raises, Sit-ups, Flutter Kicks, Seated Russian Twists. I actually think I pushed myself more than I’ve pushed myself in the past, leveling up my conception of what I’m capable of. Then 6 minute stretch.

Second interval workout since surgery — happy to finally build up to this effort level, even if it’s wasn’t as long as I’m used to. 10 stretch and strengthening, 15 warmup, 4x3 minutes with 1 minute rests threshold (HR 150-160), 10 minute cooldown Random core for 5 minutes after (Leg Raises, Sit-ups, Flutter Kicks, Seated Russian Twists), 5 minute stretch Connected my heart rate monitor to my indoor bike app, which is super convenient.

10 minute stretch & strengthening 50 minute bike — first one with heart strap. I stayed in the right HR zone but was going slow, just shows my fitness as of today. 5 minute post-stretch
